A constant connection to the ground means imagery can flow in real time, enabling new time-sensitive applications.
Currently: 70% of remote sensing satellites’ time is spent in communication black-out zones.
Currently: Tradeoffs must be made today between image quantity and image quality due to bandwidth constraints.
Currently: Gaps in ground infrastructure coverage lead to downlink delays as imaging satellites wait to physically fly over the next ground terminal to offload imagery.
